Der US-Elektroautobauer Tesla hat erneut hohe Gewinne erzielt. Das Unternehmen von High-Tech-Milliardär Elon Musk erzielte im dritten Quartal einen Gewinn von 3,3 Milliarden Dollar (rund 3,4 Milliarden Euro), wie Tesla am Mittwoch mitteilte. Das war mehr als doppelt so viel wie im Vorjahresquartal. Beim Umsatz erzielte Tesla mit 21,5 Milliarden Dollar 56 Prozent mehr als im Vorjahresquartal, aber rund 500 Millionen Dollar weniger als von den Analysten erwartet.
Habeck bekräftigt deutsches Interesse an Pipeline von Spanien nach Frankreich
Bundeswirtschaftsminister Robert Habeck (Grüne) hat angesichts der ablehnenden Haltung Frankreichs das deutsche Interesse an einer Gasleitung von Spanien nach Südfrankreich bekräftigt. Diese werde zwar im kommenden Winter keine Rolle spielen, sei aber "ein Zukunftsprojekt", sagte er am Mittwoch in Paris. "Wir brauchen eine bessere Vernetzung in in Europa, sowohl mit Stromnetzen als auch mit Pipelines für Wasserstoff", betonte er.
Habeck: EU braucht "starke Antwort" auf massive US-Subventionen
Bundeswirtschaftsminister Robert Habeck (Grüne) hat eine "starke Antwort" auf europäischer Ebene auf das massive Subventionsprogramm der US-Regierung für die dortige Industrie gefordert. "Unternehmen werden aus Europa in die USA gelockt mit diesen Subventionen", sagt Habeck am Mittwoch nach Beratungen mit Frankreichs Wirtschaftsminister Bruno Le Maire. Auch der Franzose zeigte sich "sehr besorgt" über drohende Wettbewerbsverzerrungen in den transatlantischen Wirtschaftsbeziehungen.
Eurowings und Piloten-Gewerkschaft wollen nach Streik Verhandlungen fortsetzen
Die Lufthansa-Tochter Eurowings und die Gewerkschaft Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) wollen nach dem dreitägigen Piloten-Streik ihre Verhandlungen über einen Manteltarifvertrag fortsetzen. Das erklärten die Fluggesellschaft und die Gewerkschaft am Mittwoch in einer gemeinsamen Stellungnahme. "Nach Ablauf des insgesamt dritten Streiktags in Folge wird Eurowings ab dem morgigen Donnerstag, 20. Oktober, wieder zu einem planmäßigen Flugbetrieb zurückkehren", hieß es.

Bundeskabinett billigt Akw-Laufzeitverlängerung bis April
Das Bundeskabinett hat die Verlängerung der Laufzeiten der drei verbliebenen deutschen Atomkraftwerke bis April 2023 gebilligt. Die Runde der Ministerinnen und Minister verabschiedete am Mittwoch in Berlin eine entsprechende Vorlage, welche die gesetzliche Grundlage für den Weiterbetrieb schaffen soll, wie aus Regierungskreisen verlautete. Das Kabinett folgte damit einer Vorgabe von Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD).

Die geplante Strompreisbremse zur Entlastung der Verbraucherinnen und Verbraucher nimmt Form an. Die Regierung arbeite derzeit "mit Hochdruck an der nationalen Umsetzung der europäischen Verordnung" über entsprechende Notfallmaßnahmen, teilte das Wirtschaftsministerium am Mittwoch mit. Der Streamingdienst Netflix scheint seinen Abwärtstrend der vergangenen Monate beendet zu haben. Im dritten Quartal stiegen die Abonnenten-Zahlen des US-Unternehmens überraschend stark um mehr als zwei Millionen. "Gott sei Dank ist jetzt Schluss mit den rückläufigen Quartalen", sagte Netflix-Mitgründer Reed Hastings zu den Zahlen. "Wir sind zurück im Plus."

Kabinett befasst sich nach Scholz-Machtwort mit Atomgesetz
Das Bundeskabinett berät am Mittwoch über die Änderung des Atomgesetzes, um den von Kanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) beschlossenen Weiterbetrieb aller drei deutschen Atomkraftwerke zu ermöglichen (ab 11.00 Uhr). Der Entwurf zur Änderung des Atomgesetzes soll die rechtlichen Voraussetzungen für einen Weiterbetrieb der Kraftwerke Emsland, Isar 2 und Neckarwestheim 2 bis zum 15. April 2023 schaffen.

Die Einnahmen der griechischen Tourismusindustrie haben in diesem Jahr ein "Rekordniveau" erreicht. Trotz der aus den Folgen des Ukraine-Krieges resultierenden Schwierigkeiten im laufenden Jahr sei es Griechenland gelungen, Rekordwerte im Vergleich zu den Zahlen von 2019 zu erreichen, sagte Tourismusminister Vassilis Kikilias am Dienstag laut der Nachrichtenagentur Ana.

Der Zementriese Lafarge zahlt in den USA eine Strafe von 778 Millionen Dollar wegen Geldflüssen an Dschihadisten im Bürgerkrieg in Syrien. Das 2015 mit der Schweizer Baustoffgruppe Holcim fusionierte französische Unternehmen kündigte am Dienstag an, sich in einem Punkt der Verschwörung zur materiellen Unterstützung ausländischer Terrororganisationen schuldig zu bekennen. Zur Einstellung des Verfahrens zahlt Lafarge nach eigenen Angaben eine Strafe von 777,78 Millionen Dollar (rund 795 Millionen Euro).
Einigung in Tarifgesprächen in der Chemiebranche erzielt
Bei den Tarifverhandlungen in der Chemie- und Pharmaindustrie haben beide Seiten nach dreitägigen Verhandlungen eine Einigung erzielt. Erneut Durchsuchungen wegen Cum-Ex-Geschäften bei Deutscher Bank in Frankfurt
Im Zusammenhang mit Verfahren wegen sogenannter Cum-Ex-Geschäfte ist am Dienstag die Zentrale der Deutschen Bank in Frankfurt am Main durchsucht worden. Trotz großer inhaltlicher Vorbehalte will sich die Spitze der Grünen-Bundestagsfraktion dem Machtwort des Bundeskanzlers in der Frage des Akw-Weiterbetriebs beugen. "Wir werden in der Fraktion dafür werben, dem Vorschlag zu folgen", sagte Grünen-Fraktionschefin Britta Haßelmann am Dienstag vor einer Sitzung ihrer Fraktion. Die Grünen-Abgeordneten sollten "diesem Vorschlag des Bundeskanzlers folgen, auch wenn wir wissen, dass in der Sache das Akw Emsland fachlich nicht notwendig ist".

Der Automarkt in Europa hat sich von den massiven Lieferkettenproblemen weitgehend erholt, die Hersteller stellen sich jedoch auf die nächste Krise ein. Im Vergleich zum Vorjahr stiegen die Neuzulassungen den zweiten Monat in Folge, wie der europäische Herstellerverband Acea am Dienstag mitteilte. Besonders stark zogen die Zulassungen von Elektroautos an. Insgesamt liegt das Absatzniveau aber weiterhin unter den Zahlen vor der Corona-Pandemie und wegen des Konjunktureinbruchs wird mittelfristig mit einem erneuten Rückgang gerechnet.
ZEW: Wirtschaftsausblick für Deutschland verschlechtert sich
Der wirtschaftliche Ausblick für Deutschland hat sich nach Einschätzung von Finanzexperten und -expertinnen weiter verschlechtert. Wie das Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW) in Mannheim am Dienstag auf der Grundlage seiner Oktober-Umfrage mitteilte, geht die Einschätzung der aktuellen konjunkturellen Lage stark zurück und liegt derzeit bei minus 72,2 Punkten - noch einmal 11,7 Punkte unter dem Wert des Vormonats.
Zahl der Baugenehmigungen im August stark gesunken
Die Zahl der Baugenehmigungen für Wohnungen und Häuser ist im August weiter deutlich zurückgegangen. So wurde in dem Monat der Bau von 28.180 Wohnungen in neuen und bestehenden Gebäuden genehmigt - das war laut Statistischem Bundesamt ein Rückgang um 9,4 Prozent verglichen mit dem Vorjahresmonat. Von Januar bis August gerechnet betrug der Rückgang drei Prozent.

Das Auto bleibt das beliebteste Verkehrsmittel für Reisen jeder Art - und dieser Trend hat in der Corona-Krise noch zugenommen. Nach Angaben des Statistischen Bundesamts wurde im vergangenen Jahr für 69 Prozent der 178,2 Millionen Privatreisen und Geschäftsreisen mit mindestens einer Übernachtung auf das Auto zurückgegriffen. Im Vor-Corona-Jahr 2019 waren es erst 59 Prozent, hieß es am Dienstag.
Betreiber von Akw Isar 2 begrüßt Scholz' Entscheidung für Weiterbetrieb
Der Betreiber des Atomkraftwerks Isar 2 in Bayern, Preussen Elektra, hat die Entscheidung von Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) für den Weiterbetrieb der drei verbliebenen deutschen Akw begrüßt. "Wir erwarten jetzt eine zügige gesetzliche Umsetzung und werden unsere Vorbereitungen auf einen Weiterbetrieb fortsetzen", erklärte Preussen-Elektra-Chef Guido Knott am Dienstag. Isar 2 werde nun Ende dieser Woche heruntergefahren, "um die notwendige Wartung an den Druckhalterventilen durchzuführen".
Zulassungen von Neuwagen in der EU im September erneut angestiegen
Die Zahl der Neuzulassungen von Autos in Europa hat im September erneut zugenommen. Im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmonat stiegen die Verkäufe um rund zehn Prozent an, wie der europäische Herstellerverband ACEA am Dienstag mitteilte. Allerdings waren die Verkaufszahlen im Vergleichsmonat September 2021 wegen Lieferkettenproblemen besonders niedrig ausgefallen. Das Absatzniveau liegt weiterhin unter dem von vor der Corona-Pandemie.
EuGH urteilt über Mitbestimmung beim Softwareunternehmen SAP
Der Europäische Gerichtshof (EuGH) in Luxemburg verkündet am Dienstag (9.30 Uhr) ein Urteil zur Mitbestimmung bei dem Softwareunternehmen SAP. Dies wurde 2014 von einer Aktiengesellschaft nach deutschem Recht in eine "Europäische Gesellschaft" (SE) umgewandelt. SAP will nun seinen mit 18 Personen paritätisch besetzten Aufsichtsrat auf zwölf Personen verkleinern.

Die Fischereiminister der EU-Länder haben sich darauf geeinigt, dass Fischer in weiten Teilen der Ostsee im kommenden Jahr weiterhin keinen Hering und Dorsch fangen dürfen. "Obwohl das für unsere Ostseefischerinnen und -fischer nicht die Nachrichten sind, auf die sie gehofft haben, ist es doch die einzige Chance, die Bestände wiederaufzubauen", erklärte die Staatssekretärin im Bundeslandwirtschaftsministeriumm Silvia Bender, am Montag.
Aktivisten: Mehr als 120 Tote durch Unterdrückung von Protesten im Iran
Bei der gewaltsamen Unterdrückung von Demonstrationen wegen des Todes von Mahsa Amini sind im Iran seit dem 16. September mehr 122 Demonstranten getötet worden. Le Maire ruft zur "Befreiung" der Treibstofflager in Frankreich auf
Angesichts der fortdauernden Streiks in französischen Raffinerien und Treibstofflagern hat Wirtschaftsminister Bruno Le Maire zu einem Ende der Blockade aufgerufen. Es sei an der Zeit, "die Lager und die Raffinerien zu befreien", sagte Le Maire am Montag dem Sender BFM. Zum Wochenbeginn wurden weiterhin drei von sieben Raffinerien und fünf große Treibstofflager von landesweit 200 bestreikt.
