Im Kampf gegen die hohe Inflation auf den Philippinen hat die Regierung die Reispreise gedeckelt. Präsident Ferdinand Marcos kündigte am Freitag an, dass der Kilopreis für Reis ab sofort bei maximal 41 Pesos (ungefähr 68 Cent) liegt, für qualitativ höherwertigen Reis sind es 45 Pesos. Damit wird Reis, eines der wichtigsten Grundnahrungsmittel auf den Philippinen, 25 Prozent günstiger als die in dieser Woche auf den Märkten von Manila gehandelte Ware.

Deutsche Unternehmen legen im Kampf um Arbeitskräfte und Fachkräfte zunehmend mehr Wert auf Familienfreundlichkeit. Wie eine gemeinsame Studie des Instituts der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln (IW) und des Bundesfamilienministeriums ergab, ist ein familienfreundliches Umfeld mittlerweile für 86 Prozent der deutschen Firmen wichtig. Im Jahr 2015 spielte dieser Faktor nur für 77 Prozent eine Rolle.

Unionsfraktion fordert nach Klausur Bürokratieabbau

Mehr als 200 Milliarden Euro Schaden durch Datendiebstahl, Spionage und Sabotage
Durch Diebstahl von IT-Ausrüstung und Daten, durch digitale und analoge Industriespionage und Sabotage entstehen der deutschen Wirtschaft pro Jahr mehr als 200 Milliarden Euro Schaden. In diesem Jahr werde der Schaden bei 206 Milliarden Euro liegen, ergab eine Unternehmensumfrage für den Branchenverband Bitkom. Die meisten Cyberattacken kommen demnach aus Russland und aus China. Sechs von zehn Unternehmen halten die Sicherheitsbehörden derzeit für machtlos gegen solche Angriffe aus dem Ausland.
Umstrittene Rentenreform in Frankreich in Kraft getreten
In Frankreich ist die von Präsident Emmanuel Macron gegen erheblichen Widerstand in der Bevölkerung durchgesetzte Rentenreform am Freitag in Kraft getreten. Stimmung in der Autoindustrie verschlechtert sich weiter
Die deutsche Automobilindustrie schätzt ihre aktuelle Geschäftslage laut Umfrage des Ifo-Instituts schlechter ein als im Juli: Im August fiel der entsprechende Indikator auf 12,7 Punkte, nach 22,1 Punkten im Juli, wie das Ifo am Freitag mitteilte. "Die Stimmung hat sich vor allem bei den Autoherstellern verschlechtert; die Zulieferer sind mit ihrer aktuellen Lage immer noch einigermaßen zufrieden", erklärte Anita Wölfl vom Ifo.

Der Einsatz von Antibiotika in der Tierhaltung ist im vergangenen Jahr zurückgegangen. Das Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (BfR) gab am Donnerstag erstmals einen ausführlichen Jahresbericht heraus, der neben der eingesetzten Menge auch einen Rückgang der Behandlungstage pro Tier feststellt. Demnach sank die Verbrauchsmenge von Antibiotika bei Rindern, Schweinen, Hühnern und Puten insgesamt um zwölf Prozent.

Unionsfraktionschef Friedrich Merz (CDU) hat sich offen für Gespräche über einen Industriestrompreis gezeigt. Nach einer Berührung zwischen zwei jungen Fahrradfahrern ist ein 14-Jähriger im niedersächsischen Emden gegen einen Lastwagen geprallt und tödlich verletzt worden. Wie die Polizei in Leer mitteilte, ereignete sich der Unfall am Donnerstagmorgen auf einem Radweg neben einer Straße, auf dem der 14-Jährige und ein zwölfjähriger weiterer Radfahrer in entgegengesetzten Richtungen unterwegs waren. Inflation in der Eurozone im August unverändert bei 5,3 Prozent
Die Inflation in der Eurozone ist im August unverändert geblieben: Die Teuerung betrug im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmonat 5,3 Prozent, wie die Statistikbehörde Eurostat am Donnerstag in einer ersten Schätzung mitteilte. Die Rate blieb trotz eines Rückgangs der Energiepreise um 3,3 Prozent und einer langsameren Steigerung bei den Nahrungsmittelpreisen, die um 9,8 Prozent anzogen, stabil. Der Rückgang bei den Energiepreisen war aber schwächer als in den Vormonaten.

Die UBS will das Schweiz-Geschäft der Credit Suisse vollständig ins eigene Institut integrieren, wie sie am Donnerstag mitteilte. Arbeitslosigkeit nimmt im August weiter zu
Die schwache Konjunktur und die Sommerpause sorgen für eine steigende Zahl von Arbeitslosen in Deutschland: Im August nahm die Zahl im Vergleich zum Vormonat um 79.000 auf 2,696 Millionen zu, wie die Bundesagentur für Arbeit (BA) am Donnerstag in Nürnberg mitteilte. Die Arbeitslosenquote stieg um 0,1 Prozentpunkte auf 5,8 Prozent an.

Der Umsatz im deutschen Einzelhandel ist auch im Juli gesunken. Er ging im Vergleich zum Juni preisbereinigt um 0,8 Prozent zurück, wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Donnerstag mitteilte. Im Vergleich zum Juli 2022 sank der Umsatz um 2,2 Prozent. Der Bundesverband der Deutschen Süßwarenindustrie (BDSI) hat die EU-Kommission aufgefordert, den europäischen Markt für Zuckerimporte zu öffnen. "Ein Gegensteuern der Politik wäre notwendig, um die Knappheit am Markt sowie die Preisinflation beim Zucker einzudämmen", erklärte der BDSI am Mittwoch in Bonn. Österreich führt Mietendeckel für gemeinnützige Wohnungen ein
Die österreichische Regierung hat einen großflächigen Mietpreisdeckel im gemeinnützigen Wohnungsbau angekündigt. In den kommenden drei Jahren sollen die Mieten um maximal fünf Prozent jährlich ansteigen dürfen, wie das Bundeskanzleramt in Wien am Mittwoch mitteilte. Mittlerweile könne Deutschland aber "einigermaßen optimistisch" auf die Gasversorgungslage in diesem Winter blicken.
Pilotprojekt zu Viertagewoche bei vollem Lohn startet im Februar in Deutschland
In Deutschland startet Anfang 2024 ein umfassendes Pilotprojekt zur Einführung einer Viertagewoche. Das berichtete am Mittwoch das Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) unter Berufung auf die Beratungsagentur Intraprenör, die das Projekt in Deutschland koordiniert. 50 Unternehmen verschiedener Branchen aus ganz Deutschland werden demnach das Arbeitszeitmodell vom 1. Februar an testen: Sechs Monate lang werden sie die Arbeitszeit bei gleichem Gehalt von fünf auf vier Tage reduzieren.
Inflation im August bei voraussichtlich 6,1 Prozent
Die Inflation hat sich im August weiter leicht abgeschwächt: Wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Mittwoch mitteilte, liegt die Teuerung in diesem Monat bei voraussichtlich 6,1 Prozent. Im Juli hatte sie im Jahresvergleich bei 6,2 Prozent und im Juni bei 6,4 Prozent gelegen. Verglichen mit Juli stiegen die Preise im August um 0,3 Prozent.

Mit einem Internetvideo wirbt die japanische Regierung offensiv für den Kauf von Fisch aus der Region um das zerstörte Atomkraftwerk Fukushima. "Das schmeckt sehr gut", betonte Regierungschef Fumio Kishida in dem am Mittwoch in sozialen Netzwerken veröffentlichten Clip, in dem er gemeinsam mit drei Ministern Fisch, Meeresfrüchte und andere Lebensmittel aus der Gegend um Fukushima verzehrt.

Immer weniger Auszubildende würden ihren eigenen Betrieb weiterempfehlen und die Zufriedenheit der Azubis mit ihrer Ausbildung ist ebenfalls gesunken: Das sind zwei Ergebnisse des diesjährigen Ausbildungsreports der Jugendorganisation des Deutschen Gewerkschaftsbunds (DGB), der am Mittwoch vorgestellt wurde. Darin werden auch erhebliche Mängel bei der Digitalisierung sowohl in den Berufsschulen als auch in den Ausbildungsbetrieben kritisiert.
Verbraucherschützer: Mängel bei Umsetzung von strengeren EU-Regeln für Online-Riesen
Der Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband (vzbv) hat wenige Tage nach Inkrafttreten von strengeren EU-Vorschriften für Online-Riesen Mängel bei der Umsetzung kritisiert. "Der vzbv hat jetzt erste Überprüfungen vorgenommen, weitere werden folgen. Wenn es bei der Umsetzung weiterhin hakt, wird der Verband die Möglichkeit nutzen, Unternehmen bei Verstößen abzumahnen", erklärte vzbv-Chefin Ramona Pop am Mittwoch. Demnach besteht bei der Pflicht zu Kontaktangaben und bei der Transparenz der Empfehlungssysteme Nachbesserungsbedarf.
Neuzulassungen in Europa nehmen weiter kräftig zu
Die Zahl der Neuzulassungen in der EU hat auch im Juli weiter zugenommen: Neu angemeldet wurden gut 851.000 Pkw, das waren rund 15 Prozent mehr als im Vorjahr, wie der europäische Herstellerverband Acea am Mittwoch in Brüssel mitteilte. Im Juni waren erstmals mehr Elektro- als Dieselautos zugelassen worden - im Juli fiel der Marktanteil der E-Autos mit 13,6 Prozent wieder niedriger aus als der Anteil der Dieselautos mit 14,1 Prozent.
Kabinett beschließt Wachstumschancengesetz
Das Wachstumschancengesetz ist am Mittwoch im Rahmen der Klausurtagung in Meseberg vom Kabinett beschlossen worden. Vorgesehen sind Entlastungen für die Wirtschaft im Volumen von gut sieben Milliarden Euro. Damit "schaffen wir Wachstumschancen" und "bereiten ein Fundament für mehr private Investitionen", erklärte Bundesfinanzminister Christian Lindner (FDP).
Lego bleibt auf Erfolgskurs
Der dänische Spielwarenproduzent Lego hat die seit der Corona-Pandemie hohen Umsätze auch im ersten Halbjahr 2023 halten können. Lego verkaufte Steinesets und Spielzeug im Wert von 27,4 Milliarden Kronen (3,75 Milliarden Euro), wie das Unternehmen am Mittwoch mitteilte. Der Gewinn dagegen ging im Jahresvergleich um fast 18 Prozent auf umgerechnet rund 680 Millionen Euro zurück, weil das Unternehmen nach eigenen Angaben viel in Digitalisierung und Nachhaltigkeit investiert.
Nachfrage nach Arbeitskräften im August gesunken
Die Nachfrage der deutschen Unternehmen nach Arbeitskräften ist im August gesunken. Der Stellenindex der Bundesagentur für Arbeit (BA) ging verglichen mit Juli um zwei Punkte auf 117 Punkte zurück, wie die Behörde am Mittwoch mitteilte. Er setzte damit seinen Abwärtstrend fort und lag außerdem 17 Punkte unter dem Vorjahreswert. Im Juli war der Index im Monatsvergleich stabil geblieben.
